Let Go of the Past, Embrace the Present, and Attract Your Best Future

“The power of creating a better future is contained in the present moment: You create a good future by creating a good present.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

“Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

Even when we are making movements forward in life, we can find that the past still haunts our present. In order to be truly free in every moment of our lives, we have to make a continuous effort to always be letting go of what no longer serves us or is for our highest good. Letting go of the past is always part of our journey in life.

Holding on to the past through painful memories of guilt, shame, resentment, or anger can cause us to not be joyful in the present moment which in turn affects what our future will be like. We attract our future by our current thoughts and actions, so if in our life right now, we are harboring bad feelings or negative, sad emotions, we will be putting that energy out there into the Universe and bringing more of that same energy into our future.

Your current reality is a byproduct of your past thoughts. So if life is great and amazing and things are flowing, and you are in a state of abundance, you created this life from your past positive thoughts and mindset. Your previous positive energy attracted more positive energy and abundance into your current life. Yay for you!

But if your life is filled with troubles and distress right now, it’s likely your past negative or fearful thoughts attracted these problems into your present life. It’s a hard pill to swallow, but I can tell you from years of bad things happening to me, that MY fears and doubts, worry and anxiety brought on a lot of my past hardships.

We know that life is never perfectly blissful all the time; it is filled with ups and downs because it is quite impossible to be in a high vibe, positive state of mind literally every day of your life.

Things happen that cause us to be fearful, doubtful, anxious, angry, frustrated, lost and depressed, but when we stay in those emotions daily, we put that energy out into the world, and we attract that back in our life some days, months later.

The key is to be aware of those times when we are in a state of sadness or low vibrational energy, and to release those emotions through whatever means serves you best: crying, journaling your rage, exercising, boxing (My go to. I love punching things! lol) or doing any productive physical activity where you can release the energy you are carrying within your body. If you hold on to that negative energy, it will start to manifest itself physically with health issues.

When we stay stuck in rethinking or reliving our past situations, hurts, problems, trauma, we are then making the past a part of our present day lives; and then we just attract more of this energy into our future.

To create a better life, a better story, and to turn your life around and so that you can live the life you wanted, you have to be aware of your thoughts. How are you thinking on a regular basis? Are you consciously aware of your negative, sad, anxious, worried mindset? Or are you happy, positive, optimistic and in a state of peace and harmonious thinking? More often than not, we fluctuate between both mindsets a lot of the time.

I know many days, I wake up sad for whatever reason, probably because I am not where I want to be in my life right now. I want more. I want my book deal, money from a job to support my writing, my finances to be thriving.

However, when I wake up like that, I consciously choose to change my thinking. I do this with meditation and gratitude. I make it a conscious choice to be happy and to live in an upbeat and appreciative state of mind.

And when things happen that bring me down, I recognize my mood is dipping, and I remember to switch my mindset to a positive one. I redirect my focus by getting out of my head and into my body. I get up from my desk, put on music that makes me happy, go for a walk, or do anything that can distract me from thinking negatively. It takes a lot of effort in the beginning, but it gets easier.

This isn’t about masking or putting a band-aid on your feelings. You must honor them, process through them and then LET THEM GO. The point is you should not hold on to the past or anything that is weighing you down that makes you feel bad. Life is meant to be joyful. Life is meant to be enjoyed.

We will never attract the life of our dreams if we are not enjoying the present moment and doing things that make us happy right now. That is how the law of attraction works.

Let go, surrender, feel good, be happy, enjoy life, and trust that things will work out. The past holds us back, and the present creates our future, so if you want a better tomorrow, focus on today and be in a state of gratitude for all that you have right now, be appreciative of any part of your life that is good and focus on that.

Don’t focus on the lack. Don’t focus on the scarcity. Don’t focus on what hasn’t happened yet or what is going wrong. And definitely don’t focus or think of the past.

Even thinking too much about the future isn’t good. Release expectations of the future and surrender to what will be.

If you set your intentions and tell the Universe what you desire, trust that your prayers are being heard. If we live in a place where we trust that the Universe is working for us and with us to make our dreams come true, then what is there to worry about?

All is taken care of. All is good right now. It’s in this state of mind that we attract more of that good feeling energy and vibration into our lives, and attract the life we are worthy of living.

We are worthy and deserving of having it all. The past doesn’t define us. Our present does.

That’s all we have and know to be true. And with this belief system, we are surrendering and trusting with hope and faith of a future that is beyond our wildest dreams.
